For such a tiny island, Anguilla packs a lot of punch. Coming in at a mere 91km, its 33 pristine beaches set the tone perfectly - one of barefoot elegance and laid back indulgence. This translates to its dining as well. From beach shacks that serve up the freshest of fresh seafood to 5-star affairs that would delight even the most epicurean of taste buds, Anguilla - this tiny dot in the Caribbean Sea - offers an incredible variety of restaurants. And while you are always invited to dress it up, with its low-key pace, casual attire is never really out of place. For all its laissez faire ways though, if it's privacy and luxury you seek. Anguilla delivers. With its handful of boutique hotels and intimate resorts, as well as opulent, secluded villas, this tiny island-in-the-sun provides the pampering you crave.

Sandy Island

For that quintessential Robinson Crusoe experience (it is very possible you will be the only people here!), and some of the area's best snorkeling and diving, this speck of sand located just offshore, about 10 minutes by boat, is a popular excursion and quite possibly one of the most beautiful places you'll ever visit. Take a day out of your vacation to see this place, and plan on staying for lunch – there's a little makeshift shack/BBQ restaurant here that serves up the freshest crayfish and lobster, along with some great ribs and rum cocktails; it has been feeding hungry visitors for years.

Little Bay

For one of the best beach experiences you'll ever have without having to step foot off the island, sneak away to Little Bay, a picturesque little cove carved into the northwest coast. The swimming and snorkeling here is particularly noteworthy, and it is especially idyllic in the late afternoon when the sun starts to set. Intimate and serene most of the time, it can get busy later in the day, so depending on your mood, you may want to get there a bit earlier.

Celebration

Anguilla makes a great wedding spot for those looking for an intimate, yet undeniably romantic setting. You won't necessarily find a large venue for large guest lists, though many lovely beachfront restaurants will host private events.

Dining & Nightlife

There are many places on this island where you can enjoy to take in some of the finest dining experiences. One of Anguilla's best features is the ability to purchase fresh lobster and other seafood delights directly from a local fisherman. There aren't any casinos though, or even a bonafide tourist strip to speak of, but what you will find here are some of the best beach bars and grills in the Caribbean. A hotspot on many people's 'Anguilla must-do' lists is the Dune Preserve located in Rendezvous Bay (itself an idyllic little retreat). Plan to spend a couple of hours enjoy the food, the music and overall atmosphere; this ramshackle-themed venue is a marquee live music spot and one of the most chilled out places you could ever imagine.

The beaches pretty much define this island but if a break from sun-kissed days stretched out lazily under the sun is required, a day trip to nearby St. Martin is a very easy option. Charter a small boat or catamaran and pop over to this French- Dutch Caribbean hotspot, a journey of about 25 minutes. Once you arrive, take your pick! St. Martin - St Maarten is home to many designer boutiques, so if a little retail therapy is required (and duty free at that!), this is the place to do it. Ecotourism is also big here so if you have a craving for a little adventure, there are plenty of options available. Back on Anguilla, be sure to get your snorkel on. This is probably the best island for this aquatic past-time as the coral reefs are close enough to each other and easy to get to via flipper.
